61st Annual Turkey Troet to be held October 13 and 14, 2006 in Yellville. If you have never experienced Turkey Trot it needs to be on your shoret list. Turkey trot actually started around a local turkey calling contest. From there it has grown to be one of the oldest festivals you will find. It is a local homecoming that brings folks from around north Arkansas and from across the country. It will kick off on Friday the 13th at 10:00 with a parade with opening ceremonies to follow on the square. Then will feature all sorts of entertainment throughout the day and evening from Lip Sync contest to several bands. Then on Saturday festivities resume with a 5K run, turkey shoot, turkey calling, beauty pagent, turkey dinner and more entertainment. The square will loaded with booths and vendors of all kinds. Turkey has recieved publicity from radio, T.V. and news media from across the country. If you happened to be in the right spot at the right time you could catch a live turkey running the streets and falling from the sky. Hope to see you at Turket Trot !
